The Merit Poker Queens initiative, created by Merit Poker president Songul Bekem more than three years ago, continues to strengthen the women’s poker community in Northern Cyprus. Designed to encourage participation and build confidence, the initiative offers free daily training sessions, friendly guidance from experienced dealers, and accessible tournament formats for players of all levels.
During the recent Carmen Series at Merit Poker, the spirit of the initiative was on full display. The event attracted 54 players, with 28 additional entries, generating a total prize pool of $16,400, including $4,300 awarded to the winner.

Although 11 places were initially set to be paid, the players agreed to extend the payouts to 13 spots. This decision highlighted the supportive and friendly atmosphere that defines the Merit Poker Queens community, where inclusivity and enjoyment are just as important as competition.
After more than six hours of play, the title was claimed by Andreea Bratile from Romania, a well-known Merit Poker regular, who added another impressive victory to her record. Worth mentioning, this is the 3rd Women’s Championship title for A.Bratile, including the Carmen Series last year.
