The one-day evening tournament attracted 110 entries, creating an intense battle for the title.
A total of 15 players made it into the money, but in the end, it was Alexander Savchenko (pictured) who emerged victorious.
After the photosession we had a flash-interview with the champion:
— I entered the final table as the shortest stack but slowly built my way up. When we got to the top six, there was a deal offer, but I declined. We played for a long time, I became the chip leader – and eventually, I won.
— But my biggest dream is to win the Main Event. The prize money, the trophy, and the prestige—being on that list of Main Event Champions is SOMETHING!
— For me, the trophy means everything. I’d even be willing to take less money in heads-up if it meant securing the title.
— My wife is relaxing while I’m here at the casino. Merit is a perfect 10 out of 10. No other place in the world has this level of hospitality. It’s a fantastic place to spend time, even with kids.
