The $1,100 Omaha event attracted 84 entries. The top 13 players finished in the money, and the winner was STEFAN TODERITA (pictured), who took home $22.200!
During the winner’s ceremony, we asked Stefan to share his thoughts and answer a few questions:
— This is not my first time at Merit — I think I first came about five years ago, but I’ve been coming more often in the past two years. I think it’s the best place to play poker.
— I enjoy both two-card and four-card games, but I like Omaha a bit more. It’s more fun and there’s more postflop play compared to Hold’em. This is actually my third Omaha final table at Merit, so I’m very happy to finally win one.
— What can I say about the final table? It was really fun. I came in with an average stack and hit a set of kings over a set of threes, and after that, I just ran really well. I think having a couple of short stacks at the table gave me a lot of room to make different plays and apply pressure.
— My Merit and MPP experience was amazing! I played the Mystery Bounty and cashed, but also had the worst bad beat of my career — I shoved 10♦️9♥️ on a J♥️8♦️7♣️ rainbow flop against 9♠️6♣️ and K♥️J♦️ and lost to a 7♥️ on the turn and another 7♠️ on the river. But the Omaha event gave it back to me.
— I’m sorry I can’t stay for the rest of the festival — I’m spending the weekend in Barcelona for my friend’s bachelor party. But for sure, I’ll be back at Merit soon.
